Movie Padamati Sandhya Ragam how did it all start?

This is the story behind the beginning of the beloved film Padamati Sandhya Ragam and how an important meeting sparked it all. It was in early May 1985 when I had the incredible opportunity to meet the legendary filmmaker late Sri Jandhyala garufor the very first time. Our goal was to invite him to direct a yet-to-be-titled film that was being planned by Americaloni Teluguvaru — a passionate group of Telugu people living in America who dreamed of creating a meaningful movie that would reflect their experiences.

 

At that time, the project was still in its very early 'concept' phase. Nothing had been finalized, and much of the idea was still forming in discussions and dreams. However, that single meeting with Jandhyala garu changed everything. His warmth, vision, and immediate understanding of the story’s potential gave all of us tremendous confidence. To our great joy, Jandhyala garu agreed to come on board as the director.

 

With his involvement, the project took a huge leap forward, officially moving from the 'concept' phase into active 'pre-production.' That pivotal meeting marked the true beginning of Padamati Sandhya Ragam — setting the foundation for a film that would eventually become a classic and a proud achievement for Telugu cinema abroad.
